The GameSweep app

What it reads

GameSweep reads Steam's local configuration, library manifests, cached playtime and achievement data, Workshop manifests, artwork caches, how much space each drive has, and the paths of running programs so it can tell which game you're playing. When Storage is open, it also reads the names, sizes and dates of files in Steam's library folders, never their contents, to report what Steam has left behind. All of this is used on your PC to build your library and suggestions.

What it stores

Your settings and choices (such as protected, snoozed or hidden games), your cleanup plan and activity, Steam moves it's watching, one free-space reading per drive per day (kept for 180 days), and when it last checked for updates and ads are stored in the app's own storage on your PC. Booked ad and sponsor images or videos are kept in GameSweep's data folder and deleted when the booking ends. None of this leaves your PC. You can clear your activity in Settings.

When it goes online

Update check

At most once a day, GameSweep downloads a small file from GameSweep's releases page on GitHub to see whether there's a newer version. GitHub sees an ordinary download from your IP address. Nothing about you, your PC or your library is sent, and nothing installs until you choose Update now. You can turn the daily check off in Settings › Updates.

Ads and sponsors

At most once a day, GameSweep downloads the list of booked ads and sponsors, with their images or videos, from gamesweep.app. Our host sees an ordinary download from your IP address. GameSweep never reports which ads were shown or selected.

Game artwork

If a game's cover isn't in Steam's local cache, GameSweep may load the public image for that game from Steam's content network. Valve's privacy policy applies to that request.

Links you select

Ads, the sponsor, Support on Ko-fi and Get help open in your browser, and only when you select them. From then on, that site's privacy policy applies.

Ads, affiliate links and sponsors

Some ads are affiliate links to shops, and some advertisers tag their links. If you select one, the shop or advertiser can tell the visit came from GameSweep, and an affiliate shop pays Lab43 a small commission if you buy something. Nothing else about you is shared.

Diagnostics reports

A diagnostics report is only created when you ask for one in Settings. You see all of it first, and it only leaves the app if you copy or save it yourself. It removes Windows user names, Steam account IDs and game IDs, and contains no game names.

Your files

Scans are read-only. GameSweep never deletes game folders or leftovers, edits Steam's files, moves games or changes mods. Steam does every uninstall and every move. The only files GameSweep writes are a diagnostics report where you choose, cached ad and sponsor media in its own folder, and an update you choose to install.

This website

gamesweep.app is hosted by Vercel. When you visit, Vercel processes the technical data needed to deliver the site and keep it secure, such as your IP address and browser, in its server logs. We don't use analytics, cookies or tracking, and the site's fonts, images and videos all come from gamesweep.app itself.

Downloads come from GameSweep's releases page on GitHub, where GitHub's privacy statement applies. Links to Ko-fi, lab43.dev, GitHub, advertisers and sponsors take you to their sites, where their own privacy policies apply.

Tips, bookings and support requests

Tips on Ko-fi are handled by Ko-fi, and we don't receive your card details. Ad and sponsor slots will be booked and paid for on lab43.dev, where Lab43's privacy policy applies.

Get help opens GameSweep's issue page on GitHub. Anything you post there is public, so please don't include personal information.

Your rights

Because GameSweep has no accounts or analytics, we usually hold nothing about you. If you've tipped us, booked a slot or contacted us, you can ask what we hold, and ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to its use, or send it to you. Write to the email address in the Impressum. You can also complain to your data protection authority.

We rely on our legitimate interest in running and securing GameSweep and this site for server logs, update checks and the ad list (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

If GameSweep or this site starts handling data differently, we'll update this page first. The date at the top shows the last change.
